The App does NOT require you to create an account or provide personal information. However, the App may collect the following:

Scan History: Records of products you have scanned, including product names, barcodes, and scan results.
Favorites: Products you have marked as favorites for quick access.
Preferences: App settings such as theme selection (light/dark mode).
Images: Temporary images captured for barcode/OCR scanning (processed locally, not uploaded to servers).
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:

Provide Core Functionality: Enable barcode scanning, OCR text recognition, and ingredient verification features.
Store Data Locally: Save your scan history, favorites, and app settings on your device for offline access.
Improve App Experience: Remember your preferences (theme, etc.) across app sessions.
Fetch Product Data: Access publicly available product information from the Open Food Facts database.
4. Data Sharing with Third Parties
Scan Halal App does NOT sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

However, we may use the following third-party services:

Open Food Facts API: The App fetches product details (name, ingredients, images) from the Open Food Facts public database. This API provides product information without requiring PII. No personal data is transmitted to this service.
Google ML Kit: Used for on-device text recognition from images. No image data is sent to Google servers - processing happens locally on your device.
Camera & Storage: Standard Android/iOS system services for capturing images and storing files locally.
Share Functionality: When you use the share feature, text is shared using your device's native sharing system (e.g., WhatsApp, email). We do not collect this shared content.
Google Play Services: For app functionality and analytics (optional, anonymous usage data).
Ad Networks: We may display advertisements from third-party ad networks. These networks may collect anonymous device identifiers and usage data. You can opt-out of interest-based ads in your device settings.
Important: Your scan history, favorites, and preferences are stored LOCALLY on your device using SQLite. This data is NOT synced to any cloud servers or databases. It remains on your device until you delete the app or clear the data.

5. Data Storage & Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information:

Local Storage: All scan history, favorites, and app settings are stored locally on your device in an SQLite database.
Image Processing: Images captured for OCR are processed locally on your device using Google ML Kit. Images are NOT uploaded to any server.
Device Security: We rely on your device's built-in security features (screen lock, biometrics) to protect access to the App.
Data Deletion: You can delete your scan history and favorites at any time through the Profile section of the App.
6. Your Rights & Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:

Access: You can view your scan history and favorites within the App.
Delete: You can delete individual scan records, favorites, or clear all history using the "Clear History" option in the Profile section.
Export: Premium users can export their scan history (feature coming soon).
Uninstall: Uninstalling the App will delete all locally stored data (scan history, favorites, preferences) from your device.
Opt-out: You can disable ad tracking and personalized ads in your device's ad settings (this does not affect the display of all ads).
7. Children's Privacy
The Scan Halal App App is designed for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make changes, we will:

Post the updated policy in the App
Notify you of material changes (optional, in-app notification)
Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
