# Privacy Policy

**The Warden Library**

This Privacy Policy describes how The Warden Library ("we", "us", "the App") handles information when you use our Android application.

We believe in keeping your reading private. **The App does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, and it does not require an account to use.**

## 1. Information We Do NOT Collect

The App:

- Does not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any contact details.
- Does not use advertising or ad SDKs.
- Does not use analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting services.
- Does not create an account or track your identity across devices.
- Does not share any data with third parties for any purpose.

## 2. Data Stored on Your Device

The App works offline. The following information is stored **only on your device** and never leaves it:

- **Reading progress** – the chapter, paragraph, and percentage you last read.
- **Highlights, notes, and bookmarks** – content you create while reading.
- **App preferences** – theme, accent color, font size, narration speed and pitch, reading language, and similar settings.
- **Book data** – the book is bundled with the App; no additional downloads are required to read it.

You can remove all of this data at any time by clearing the App's data in your device settings, or by uninstalling the App.

## 3. Text-to-Speech (Audiobook Narration)

The App's audiobook feature uses your device's built-in text-to-speech (TTS) engine to read the book aloud. The text is processed **on your device**. The App does not record audio and does not send the narrated text anywhere.

## 4. Translation Feature

The App offers paragraph translation using Google's on-device ML Kit. To enable a language, the App may download the corresponding translation model from Google over the internet (this is why the INTERNET permission is requested). Once downloaded, translation happens **entirely on your device** – the text you translate is not sent to any server.

If you do not want any internet usage, you can keep the default reading language (English) and translation will not be used.

## 5. Notifications

If you grant the notification permission, the App may show reminders (for example, a reading reminder) and playback controls for audiobook narration. These are generated locally. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

## 6. Backup

The App may create a local backup file of your reading data (highlights, notes, progress) in the App's private file area. This file is created for your own use and is not uploaded anywhere. If you share or move this file yourself, you are responsible for its handling.

## 7. Permissions

No permission is used to access your contacts, location, photos, microphone, or personal files.

## 8. Children's Privacy

The App does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

## 9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in this document with a new effective date.
